CALIFORNIA: MOUNT DIABLO STATE PARK: JUNCTION CAMPGROUND and WILDCAT GROUP CAMP
The campground is approximately a 15-mile drive from the nearest supplies. There are no resources for wood or food located within the park, except for some snacks at the lighthouse gift shop. During summer drought season, there is a strong likelihood of limited or no running water at the campground, and there will likely be fire restrictions throughout the year.

The mountain can experience high winds and strong weather, especially during the winter rainy season, where it might even pick up a few inches of snow at higher elevations on occasion. Owing to its western exposure, Junction is likely to experience the brunt of any weather systems moving through the mountain.
The campground is supported by one set of restrooms up a short, but steep climb to the roadside near the ranger station at the intersection. There are no showers, but the toilets do flush.
There are no campsites listed as being accessible. Juniper Campground near the peak does offer at least two accessible campsites.
There is no Wi-Fi on the mountain and cell signals will vary greatly even throughout the campground, but Junction’s westward-facing direction does seem to afford very strong signals throughout the campground.
The entrances to the mountain and campgrounds close soon after sunset, after which campers are locked on the mountain until sunrise. In the event of an emergency, campers can call the park rangers to open the gate.
Wildcat Group Camp is a separate facility a couple of miles down the slope from Junction. It has its own gated entrance and is a very private space with nice western views as well. There is a large centrally located cooking area with multiple tables spread throughout the campsite. Some are in shaded areas while others are more exposed. Truly flat spots are hard to find, but reasonably mild slopes are available. The restrooms are only pit toilets and there are no showers in the camp.
More information can be found on the park website.
